About HWY 331
Connecting Walton County through local stories, events, conversations and experiences
HWY 331 is an independent local media company serving Walton County, Florida. Through original stories, an events calendar, podcasts, videos, documentaries and community experiences, we help people discover more about the place they call home.
HWY 331 began on September 9, 2023, with a simple idea: to create a local media source that told stories from across Walton County and brought its people closer together.
Highway 331 connects the beaches of South Walton with Freeport, DeFuniak Springs and the rural communities of North Walton. For the people who live here, it is more than a road to the Gulf. It is the road to work, school, church, the doctor and home.
It connects us. HWY 331 tells the stories found along the way.
What We Do
HWY 331 produces local content that helps people know their community and participate in it.
Local Stories
We share stories about the people, businesses, nonprofit organizations, public institutions and ideas shaping Walton County. We look beyond the announcement to explore why something matters and how it affects the community.
HWY 331 Podcast
The HWY 331 Podcast features thoughtful conversations with business owners, community leaders, physicians, educators, artists and people working to make Northwest Florida stronger.
Events Calendar
The HWY 331 Events Calendar helps to connect you to festivals, fundraisers, outdoor adventures, performances, educational programs and community traditions throughout Walton County and the surrounding area.
Documentaries and Video
From short social videos to original documentaries, HWY 331 uses visual storytelling to preserve local history and introduce audiences to the people and places that make Walton County distinctive. Our original documentary, The Lake That Built a Town, explores the history and enduring influence of Lake DeFuniak.
Community Experiences
Through the HWY 331 Paddle Club, film screenings, community gatherings and other experiences, we create opportunities for people to explore Walton County and connect beyond a screen.
Independent, Local and Rooted Here
HWY 331 is published by Do Good LLC, an independent communications company established in Walton County in 2006.
The name reflects the philosophy behind our work. Media can do more than attract attention. It can strengthen a community, support local businesses, elevate meaningful work and help people recognize the good happening around them.
Today, HWY 331 reaches nearly 20,000 social media followers and more than 14,000 newsletter subscribers. Our stories, videos and community content generate more than one million social media views in a typical 90 day period.
But our greatest measure of success is not reach alone. It is a community that reads, listens, participates and shares these stories with others.
Walton County is made up of communities with different histories, landscapes and ambitions. HWY 331 exists to help those communities know one another better.
