TWO SHOWS | ONE NIGHT SOWAL House presents an ambitious tribute to one of the most important figures in American music: John Coltrane. Led by Reid Murphy on tenor sax, the Reid Murphy Quartet will perform a powerful evening of Coltrane classics, including Blue Train, Naima, Giant Steps, and A Love Supreme performed in its entirety. This event is designed for first-time Coltrane listeners and longtime jazz audiences alike. Alongside the music, the evening will include storytelling and context around Coltrane’s life, his artistic evolution, and his lasting relevance to American music and culture.
We are also collaborating with Central Square Records, with a curated selection of John Coltrane records available for purchase at the event.
Whether Coltrane is already in your regular rotation or you’ve never sat down with one of his records before, this night will give you a deeper appreciation for the sound, spirit, and cultural weight of one of jazz’s true giants.
