Big Mikes Food Truck Window

A Flavorful Partnership Bringing Community Together

There’s something extraordinary rolling through Walton County, and it’s not just the smoky scent of barbecue in the air—it’s the heart and soul behind Big Mike’s Smokehouse. Launched in April 2024, this food truck is much more than a mobile kitchen; it’s a testament to the power of passion, partnership, and a love for feeding the community.

At the core of Big Mike’s Smokehouse is not just one culinary mastermind but two. Mike Martin, the truck’s namesake, brings his Virginia roots and hospitality-inspired vision, while his partner, Chef Evan Davis, lends his culinary expertise and award-winning talent to make Big Mike’s an unstoppable duo.

'Merica Missels

Mike’s journey began in the 1970s, seated at the counter of Sammy & Nick’s in Newport News, Virginia. After long days of baseball and swimming, he and his family would dine there, welcomed by the owners as though they were part of the family. This sense of connection and warmth stayed with Mike and shaped his dream of one day running his own food business, one that made customers feel like they were right at home. Fast forward to today, and Mike has brought that dream to life with Big Mike’s Smokehouse, a community-driven food truck that offers much more than just great food—it delivers heart.

But the story doesn’t end there. Enter Chef Evan Davis, a culinary artist with a gentle spirit and a keen eye for flavor. Evan’s journey into the world of cooking began in 2012 while he was completing a biomedical sciences degree at Auburn University. He soon realized his true passion lay in the kitchen, and over the next few years, he built a successful business across Georgia and Alabama. After selling his company in 2015, Evan moved to the Emerald Coast, perfecting his craft in local kitchens and earning accolades along the way. His work has been featured on the Cooking Channel, and he’s earned public choice awards from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

When Evan met Mike in the kitchen, they quickly bonded over their shared love for authentic, unforgettable barbecue. Their friendship turned into a partnership, leading to the creation of Big Mike’s Smokehouse. Together, they have blended their culinary talents and philosophies to deliver smokehouse perfection, with Evan’s precision and Mike’s personal touch making each meal more than just a dish—it’s an experience.

With a team of chefs working tirelessly seven days a week, Big Mike’s Smokehouse travels through Northern Walton County and surrounding cities, offering mobile sales and catering services. The care and dedication behind every meal reflect the spirit of the founders, making sure every bite brings joy and every customer feels like family.
