2026 Walton County Commission Elections
What Voters Should Know
Two seats on the Walton County Board of County Commissioners will be on the ballot in 2026: District 2 and District 4.
The Primary Election, if required, is scheduled for August 18, 2026, followed by the General Election on November 3, 2026.
District 2
District 2 includes much of north and central Walton County, covering communities such as DeFuniak Springs, Freeport, Red Bay, Bruce, Eucheeanna, and surrounding rural areas. The district represents a mix of agricultural land, small towns, and growing residential development.
District 4
District 4 encompasses South Walton’s coastal corridor, including Miramar Beach and portions of the U.S. 98 and Scenic 30A areas. It is one of the county’s most densely populated districts and is closely tied to tourism, beach access, and coastal infrastructure issues.
Current Officeholders and Candidate Activity
District 2 is currently represented by Commissioner Danny Glidewell, whose term expires in 2026.
District 4 is currently represented by Commissioner Donna Johns, whose seat will also be up for election.
As of now, early candidate activity has emerged in District 4, where at least one challenger has publicly announced intentions to run. No formal filings or announcements have been made public for District 2 at this stage. Additional candidates are expected to enter both races closer to the qualifying period.
