For music lovers and animal advocates alike, there’s no better way to spend a Saturday than at Alaqua Animal Refuge’s Bluegrass Barn Jam! This special event, set for Saturday, September 21st, promises to bring the Walton County community together for a day filled with live music, family fun, and a deeper cause—supporting the heart of Alaqua’s mission: rescuing and caring for animals.

Hosted on Alaqua’s scenic grounds at 155 Dugas Way in Freeport, this event marks the return of Animoré Weekend with a brand-new twist—an outdoor bluegrass festival that will leave you inspired and entertained. Kicking off at 1:00 PM, the Bluegrass Barn Jam invites everyone to enjoy an afternoon and evening of soul-stirring bluegrass music from nationally and regionally recognized artists.

Live Music Under the Florida Sun

The event features performances across multiple stages, so you’re never far from the music that brings the spirit of bluegrass to life. Whether you’re a devoted fan or a casual listener, you’ll be treated to acts like Buffalo Nickel at 1:30 PM, the enchanting Molly Thomas at 3:30 PM, and the energy-packed Hurricane Party at 5:30 PM. As the sun sets, the arena opens its doors at 6:00 PM for the headlining acts, with Queens Ransom at 7:00 PM and the iconic Blue Highway taking the stage at 8:30 PM.

But the Bluegrass Barn Jam is more than just a music festival—it’s a celebration of community and compassion. With food trucks serving up delicious eats, cold beverages to sip on, and a silent auction packed with treasures, the event is designed to bring joy to the entire family. Plus, for the animal lovers out there, Alaqua’s furry residents will be on-site, reminding us all of the refuge’s incredible work in giving animals a second chance at life.

Don’t forget to bring your own blankets, chairs, and even your own instruments if you feel inspired to join in on the Bluegrass Barn Jam spirit! The day is all about togetherness, music, and making memories, all while supporting a cause that makes Walton County a kinder place for animals.
