A Morning With Dolphins & Ted

Dolphin Tour with kids unclose

We met Ted on a quiet morning at the marina, emerald waters glinting below as he stood on one of his tour boats. He joked as we boarded, asking us to step into his office. Most days he arrives by boat, skimming across the shallows to begin his work guiding families on Blue Dolphin Tours. Today, he paused long enough to show us what makes his tours different.

“What I love most,” he said, “is seeing families connect across generations.”

Children lean over the rails, grandparents lean close, and everyone watches the dolphins in a shared rhythm. The tours are designed for that intimacy, small groups moving gently through the water so that the dolphins set the pace. Calves twist behind mothers, arcs of silver cutting through the sunlit gulf waters, entirely wild, entirely themselves.

Ted spoke with conviction about the purpose behind the tours. Each trip supports ministry work, and at least one week out of every month he volunteers as a missionary, teaching English or helping wherever is needed to give others a better life.

The Blue Dolphin Tour fleet has different boat options for the dolphin tour.

Dolphins Meet the Family

Onboard, children slip into the shallow flats to explore starfish and seahorses, parents stepping lightly behind to share the discovery without interrupting it. Laughter, whispers, and the occasional splash of a dolphin’s tail mix with the hush of a wave. The morning stretches, slow and golden, giving everyone space to breathe, watch, and simply be together.

Blue Dolphin Tours is for families seeking an immersive, calm, and expert-led experience that blends adventure with purpose. It is a moment on the water that lingers long after the drive home.
