Stinky’s Celebrates 12th Anniversary of Fall Fishing Tournament
Stinky’s Fish Camp is excited to announce the 12th anniversary of its Fall Pompano Beach to Bay Grand Slam Fishing Tournament, set to run from September 28 through October 27, 2024. After the resounding success of last year’s tournament, the addition of pompano returns for a second year, creating even more excitement for anglers of all skill levels.
Following its positive reception, the pompano inclusion continues to draw attention, alongside the tournament’s required speckled trout. The event keeps the Choctawhatchee Bay at its heart, and the Grand Slam Winner will be determined by the aggregate weight of three fish: speckled trout must be one of the three, and either flounder, pompano, or redfish.
“For 12 years, our Fall and Spring Tournaments have been a highlight for Walton County’s fishing community,” said Chef Jim Richard, owner of Stinky’s Fish Camp and founder of the tournament. “The addition of pompano we made last year was a game-changer. It added an exciting new layer to the competition, which is why we’re thrilled to bring it back for 2024. These tournaments are about more than just winning—they’re about the camaraderie, the natural beauty of our area, and the love of the sport.”
Last year, the tournament’s prize purse exceeded $4,500 in cash and prizes, fueled by community sponsorships and donations. This year, that number is expected to grow even larger. “Our sponsors are the reason this tournament has grown year after year,” Chef Jim added. “We’re so grateful for their continued support and enthusiasm.”
