Camping is one of America’s great pastimes, but it’s not for everyone. Hauling the tent, sleeping bags and other equipment can mean a half-day’s work setting up your outdoor living experience. Roughing it can be a bit … rough. Twin Lakes Camp Resort in DeFuniak Springs offers the best of the camping experience with the amenities to keep you comfortable.

The park has been around since the 1970s, lovingly improved to accommodate today’s camper. A family-run business, Patrick (Pat) O’Neill, along with his children, Nelson, Kaylynn and Maggie, worked the project, which won the Best Small Park in Florida Award in 2023. Located just 30 miles north of Destin, the resort’s accommodations include cabin suites, lake houses, tiny homes, glamping tents and RV spots, all with scenic views of Holley Lake, King Lake and acres of unspoiled wilderness.

Glamping Tents
Glamping, short for glamourous camping, combines the safari-style camping with all the rustic comforts you need and without the grunt work. The tents are divided into two camps, each outfitted with a suite that sleeps two to six people. Each includes soft linens, electricity, Wi-Fi, air conditioning and heat and a restroom. You can book a single tent or an entire camp.

Tiny Homes at Twin Lakes Camp Resort in DeFuniak Springs

Tiny homes

Built in 2020, the resort has three tiny homes overlooking Holley Lake, each with its own character, color scheme and design. The houses have two bedrooms (one of them in the loft area), a full bathroom, kitchen and living room.

The décor of the five beautifully renovated cabin suites was inspired by the historic buildings in the DeFuniak Springs area. Named The Chautauqua, The Library, The Victorian, The Steeple and The Train Depot, each suite has two master bedroom suites with king-size beds, a living area, full kitchen and cable TV. Each has a back porch with paverstone decks, fire pits and a tranquil view of King Lake.
