While Mardi Gras started in Mobile and reached new heights in New Orleans, Walton County has made a Delicious Mark on the Season. With Authentic Cuisine and Festive Gatherings throught the Carnival, Celebrating Fat Tuesday is a Must!
The Carnival season always begins on January 6, which is King’s Day (Feast of the Epiphany). Mardi Gras day (Fat Tuesday), however, is on a different day each year.
FAT TUESDAY IS FEBRUARY 13, 2024
For more than a decade, Stinky’s Fish Camp has touted Mardi Gras Headquarters in Walton County. Growing up in Lafayette Louisiana, Chef/Owner Jim Richard’s family heritage in the restaurant industry spans four generations.

Stinky’s Fat Tuesday Celebration will kick off at 4 pm with an extensive Mardi Gras Menu featuring Crawfish Mac & Cajun Ed’s stuffed chicken wings, house-smoked boudin links, house-made red beans & rice, a seafood boil, King Cake and more!
The pinnacle of Stinky’s Fat Tuesday Celebration takes place next door at Stinky’s Bait Shack when Franko Washboard’s Twelfth Night Mardi Gras Band kicks off at 5. The Bait Shack also serves a traditional Mardi Gras Menu all night.
Everyone is invited to the annual event. You will find locals dressed in outrageous garb, all welcoming eachother with hugs and stories of years past.
EXPERT TIP: Get to Stinky’s Bait Shack early because the Franko Washboard’s Twelfth Night Mardi Gras Band is the real deal and sure to PACK The SHACK!
