their lecture series this September, promising sessions filled with expert insights, practical tips, and a
vibrant exchange of ideas for both new and seasoned gardeners. The first lecture will take place on
Wednesday, September 4th at 10:00 AM at the Walton County South Extension Office at 70 Logan Lane,
Grayton Beach.The Florida Forest Service will deliver the first lecture on controlled burns, a vital practice for maintaining
healthy forests and reducing wildfire risks. Controlled burns, also known as prescribed fires, are a crucial
tool for forest management. They help reduce the buildup of flammable vegetation, thereby decreasing
the likelihood of severe wildfires. This lecture will cover the benefits of controlled burns, the methods
used, and the safety measures involved. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how controlled
burns contribute to ecosystem health and resilience.The lecture is free and open to the public.

September 21, 2024Alaqua Animal Refuge is excited to announce the return of the Animoré Weekend with the introduction of the Bluegrass Barn Jam!
This year's event takes place on Saturday, September 21st with multiple performances from nationally- and regionally-recognized Bluegrass acts across multiple stages on the sprawling Alaqua property.Gates open for the outdoor music festival at 1:00pm and the first act begins at 1:30pm.The Bluegrass Barn Jam will offer fun for the entire family and will include a variety of food trucks, beverages, a silent auction, and of course, animals! The exclusive VIP section will offer prime seating and complimentary food and beverages for the evening performances at the Main Stage beginning at 6:30pm. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chair(s) for the daytime performances.

Stinky’s Celebrates 12th Anniversary of Fall Fishing Tournament
Stinky’s Fish Camp is excited to announce the 12th anniversary of its Fall Pompano Beach to Bay Grand Slam Fishing Tournament, set to run from September 28 through October 27, 2024. After the resounding success of last year’s tournament, the addition of pompano returns for a second year, creating even more excitement for anglers of all skill levels.
Tunnel Art
The recently opened underpass at Inlet Beach is a welcome safe passage across a busy intersection. But it’s also a delightful journey through a tunnel of painted swirls and colors, dazzling shapes and designs, each unique in their beauty. The art component, in the form of murals, was commissioned by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County (CAA). The murals were painted by local and tri-county (Walton, Okaloosa and Bay) area artists.
