Some of DeFuniak’s most memorable nights happen quietly-at the Gazebo on Circle
Drive overlooking Lake DeFuniak.
About once a month, Diane Pickett opens the grounds of her historic Victorian
home for an intimate pop-up concert featuring musicians, songwriters, story
tellers and the occasional surprise guest. These relaxed gatherings have quickly
become one of those ”if you know, you know” local traditions.
The March 21 evening begins at 6 pm and will feature a jazz pianist and vocalist
performing timeless American standards.
It’s casual, free, and usually just over an hour. Bring a chair, bring your own
refreshments, and settle in by the lake. Last month’s evening included selections
from Carmen; earlier this winter a Nashville songwriter quietly stole the show.
Word travels fast about these nights— and if you miss one, chances are you’ll
hear about it the next morning.
