Lake DeFuniakCircle Back Lake DeFuniak (Walk, Jog, Bike and/or Paddle)–
December 6, 2025
Starting September 13, 2025, that connection takes on a new rhythm as the HWY 331 Paddle Club makes its debut.
Every Saturday at 9 AM, locals and visitors will gather behind the historic Chautauqua Hall of Brotherhood for a community paddle on the lake, followed by a walk (or a jog, if that’s your pace) along the mile-long paved path that circles this Walton County gem.
The club is free, open to all skill levels, and simply asks participants to register so organizers know how many new friends to expect. Bring your water vessel, walking shoes, dog – come solo or bring a friend!
This isn’t just about one morning on the water. The Paddle Club is the first chapter in what we’re calling Circle Back to DeFuniak — a campaign to celebrate all the reasons people circle back to our historic town and beloved lake.

Lake DeFuniakCircle Back Lake DeFuniak (Walk, Jog, Bike and/or Paddle)–
December 13, 2025

December 27, 2025

Christmas Reflections
There’s a moment — just as the sun slips behind historic buildings and mature trees — when Lake DeFuniak becomes a mirror. The century-old homes that curve around its shore soften into silhouette, and then suddenly, with the flick of a switch, Christmas Reflections comes to life. Millions of twinkling lights ripple across the water of one of only two nearly perfect spring-fed lakes in the world.
Generations of Veterans
Veterans Day is a time to honor and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who served in the U.S. Armed Forces across generations. From the battlefields of World War II to the jungles of Vietnam, the deserts of the Middle East, and the more recent deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq, each era of service holds unique stories of resilience, dedication, and sacrifice.
Where the Water Welcomes Everyone
There’s something about the way sunlight drapes itself across the still waters of Twin Lakes Camp Resort—a kind of quiet invitation to slow down, breathe deep, and remember what it means to belong outdoors. On Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., everyone is invited to gather at this lakeside gem for a day that captures everything good about small-town generosity and Southern tradition.
What to Do on a Friday Night in Walton County
Once a month, Grammy-winning talent steps onto the historic Chautauqua Theater stage in DeFuniak Springs—and it’s only $20 to get in.
It’s called Tim Jackson’s Storytellers Tour, and it’s changing what Friday nights look like in Walton County.
Freeport Night Out Is Back—and We Can’t Wait
There’s a little magic that happens when a town decides to throw open its doors and celebrate itself—and Freeport Night Out has that magic in spades. Last year, the green hummed with laughter, music, and the unmistakable feeling that something special was happening.
